Our Solar Solutions

On-Grid Solar Systems

Connects to the public electricity grid. Excess power is sent to the grid, often earning credits (Net Metering).

How it Works

On-Grid Diagram

Solar panels convert sunlight into DC electricity. An inverter converts DC to AC electricity, which powers your home. Excess AC power is exported to the grid.

Benefits

  • Lower electricity bills
  • Net Metering benefits
  • Lower initial cost compared to off-grid
  • Requires no batteries

Use Cases

Ideal for urban areas, residential buildings, commercial properties, and industrial facilities where grid connection is reliable.

FAQs

What is Net Metering?
Net Metering allows you to get credit for excess solar power sent to the grid...
Does it work during a power cut?
No, on-grid systems shut down during power cuts for safety reasons (anti-islanding).

Q: Does it work during a power cut?
A: No, on-grid systems shut down during power cuts for safety reasons (anti-islanding).

Off-Grid / Hybrid Solar Systems

Operates independently from the grid, using batteries to store excess power. Hybrid systems can also connect to the grid for backup or selling excess.

Components Overview

Panels, Inverter, Battery Bank, Charge Controller, (Optional) Generator Backup.

Off-Grid/Hybrid Diagram

Solar panels charge batteries via a charge controller. An inverter draws power from panels or batteries to supply loads. Generator provides backup when solar and batteries are insufficient.

Benefits & Backup Features

  • Energy independence
  • Backup power during grid outages
  • Ideal for remote locations
  • Reduced reliance on volatile grid prices

Use Cases

Suitable for rural homes, farms, remote cabins, or critical loads requiring uninterrupted power supply.

FAQs

Q: How long do batteries last?
A: Battery life varies depending on type, usage, and maintenance, typically 5-15 years.

Q: Can I start with off-grid and connect to the grid later?
A: Yes, hybrid systems offer this flexibility.

Compare Solar Systems

Feature On-Grid Off-Grid / Hybrid
Grid Connection Required Not Required (Off-Grid) / Optional (Hybrid)
Battery Storage No Yes (Essential for Off-Grid)
Backup Power during Grid Outage No (Shuts down) Yes (Powered by batteries/generator)
Net Metering Benefit Yes (Typically) No (Unless Hybrid with Net Metering setup)
Initial Cost Lower Higher (Due to batteries/generator)
Ideal Location Grid-connected areas Remote areas / Areas with frequent outages

How Solar Power Works

Solar panels capture sunlight (photons) and convert them into direct current (DC) electricity via the photovoltaic effect. This DC electricity then flows to an inverter.

The inverter is the heart of the system. It converts the DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is the type of power used by most homes and businesses, and also by the electrical grid.

From the inverter, the AC electricity can either power your appliances and lights directly, or if you're producing more power than you're using, the excess can be sent back to the electricity grid (in on-grid systems) or stored in batteries (in off-grid/hybrid systems).

Energy Flow Diagrams

Visualizing the energy flow helps understand how different systems operate:

  • On-Grid: Panels -> Inverter -> Home/Grid
  • Off-Grid/Hybrid: Panels -> Charge Controller -> Batteries -> Inverter -> Home (with Generator/Grid backup options)
